NORTH THAI TOUR - 1 WEEK

During this trip you will experience the Akha hill tribe culture. The Akha are an ethnically different group than the Thais and used to travel through the mountains of China, Laos, Vietnam, Burma and Thailand.
Learn firsthand about hill tribe life and how these villagers have managed to preserve their unique culture and traditions over hundreds of years. They still maintain a distinct culture. Especially the older generation mostly live in the highlands and cultivate areas around their villages. 80% of the population are farmers and live of the forest. We will have the chance to be part of their culture for one week.

LOCATION

The northern region of Thailand is mountainous and was traditionally the most heavily forested area of the country. The north, north-east, south-east and central regions (including Bangkok) of Thailand have a climate with three distinct seasons: rainy, from June to October; cool, from November to February; and hot of highest temperatures and sunny weathers from March to May.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS

Accommodation will vary from local guesthouses to village homestays, and will be twin sharing.
The bathroom is Thai style with Asian toilets and bucket showers.
Meals are included throughout the program. The meals will be typical AKHA / Thai fare, including plenty of rice dishes. You have the opportunity to learn how to cook – Thai style, by preparing your daily meals with the help and assistance of your new Thai friends and other group members.
